Jorge Díspari & María del Carmen Romero

Jorge Díspari
Jorge was born in Villa Urquiza of Buenos Aires. He liked tango since he was a child, but at that time he preferred the music and to understand the lyrics rather than the dance. In a Saturday evening he saw his parents leaving the house very well dressed and asked where they were going; they said they were going to dance tango at Club Sin Rumbo. He went with them and got strongly attracted to the dance, therefore changing his whole life. He spent two whole years going to the milongas to watch how people danced, until one day he tried to dance with somebody. Gerardo Portalea, that used to teach at Club Sin Rumbo at that time saw it and told Pupi Castello: "Lead him and let him follow..." Two years later he would meet María del Carmen Romero and would start to dance together...

María del Carmen Romero (AKA Marita "La Turca")
Born in the beautiful city of Paraná in the argentinean province of Entre Ríos, María del Carmen moved to Vicente López of Buenos Aires at a very young age. She showed interested in dancing as a little girl, and her father started to teach her to dance tango. At the age of eight, her father took her to a tango competition in a neighborhood milonga. Her father was Don Héctor Rea, uncle of the legendary Gerardo Portalea. María del Carmen and her father won the championship. On September 8th this year María del Carmen celebrated her 58th birthday, and her first 50 years of tango. After starting to dance tango she asked the adults to take her to the milongas, but it was hard back then to let a little girl enter a milonga. After growing up, she frequented the milongas dancing with the best dancers, and becomed the dance partner of Don Carlos Estévez "Petróleo". She accompanied this man, one of the greatest innovators in tango salón, in his last performances of his life. Finishing her work with "Petróleo" she met Jorge Díspari at Club Sin Rumbo, and have danced together until now...
